Ramon Byndom finished his collegiate career in basketball as one of the most storied players in Northwestern history, where he holds the single season scoring record of 781 points set in the 1999-2000 season. Growing up in Oklahoma City, Byndom graduated from Carl Albert High School and averaged 22.8 points a game. He earned many honors including first team All-conference, first team All-city, first team All-state, and was a McDonald's All-American nominee.
After high school, Byndom attended Connors State College to play basketball in Warner, Okla. He played two seasons for the Cowboys and led his team to a fifth place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament. Once he transferred to Northwestern Oklahoma State University, he was quickly known as an offensive scoring machine scoring the seventh most points at Northwestern with 1,378 in just two years. Today, he is categorized as one of Ranger Basketball's greatest players. Byndom was known for hitting big game shots, and many remeber the game against USAO where he hit five three-pointers for the winner-take-all game with a berth on the line to the NAIA National Tournament.
Byndom could score at all three levels; he could knock down a three pointer, blow past a defender to pull up a mid-range shot and also finish at the rim. Not only does Byndom hold the single season scoring record at 781, he also lef the team with the most field goals made in a season with 276 and the most shot attempts in a season with 668. He was a team captain for the Rangers, First Team Red River Athletic Conference twice, NAIA Player of the Week, RRAC MVP, and in 2000, he was named Second Team NAIA All-American. Byndom finished his incredible career averaging a phenomenal 20.6 points per game and shot 86% from the free throw line.
Today, he works at Erik's Trucking. Byndom and his wife, Marquita, have four children: Rhianna, Jordan, Kennedy and Jace. Byndom says his greatest success has been marrying the woman of his dreams and being a father.
