Billy Byford was a second-team NAIA All-American in 1984, becoming only the fourth Northwestern player at that time to earn All-America honors. The Rangers finished with a 7-3 record that season, the first seven-win campaign in a decade.

Byford finished the year with 81 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 13 quarterback sacks.

He was a two-time All-Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference performer and was a starter for three seasons.

Byford owns his own company and currently resides in Edmond with his wife, Lea Ann, and their children: Blake, 16, Colton, 12, and Brock, 9.
