Hamilton, a graduate of Canute High School, earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2000 and her master’s in education in 2009, both from Northwestern.  She played on the Lady Rangers basketball team from 1993 to 1997 and ran cross country from 1995 to 1996.

Hamilton’s 17 free throws vs. Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 1997 tied the Northwestern record for the most free throws in a game.  A member of the 1,000 Point Club and fifth in career points with 1,251, she scored 41 vs. rival Southwestern her senior year, a highlight of her career.  Beating Southwestern her junior year in front of a packed Percefull Fieldhouse and getting a bid and playing in the NAIA National Tournament in 1996 are her greatest memories of basketball at Northwestern, she said.

Hamilton, who averaged 14.3 points per game and scored 415 points her senior year, was named second team All-OIC and KALV Player of the Year for the 1996-1997 season.  She also received the Marge Bohlen Women’s Athletic Award in 1995.

The Lady Rangers assistant basketball coach since 2004, Hamilton has also coached junior high and high school basketball at Norwich Schools in Kansas and basketball and softball at Kremlin-Hillsdale Schools.
She currently lives in Alva with her husband, Paul, a 1998 Northwestern grad, and children Hallie and Trace.
